Junior Data Analyst

The successful candidate will write SQL queries, build Power BI dashboards, automate recurring

tasks using Python and investigate data discrepancies. They will work with departments across the

business and explain findings clearly to management.

Data extraction and analysis

• Extract and combine data from databases, spreadsheets and business systems.

• Write and maintain SQL queries using joins, CTEs, window functions and aggregations.

• Investigate unusual results and identify their underlying causes.

• Deliver recurring reports and respond to ad hoc analytical requests within agreed

deadlines.

Data quality and validation

• Check datasets for missing values, duplicates, inconsistent formats and incorrect account

or meter identifiers.

• Reconcile information across systems and investigate differences.

• Validate calculations, reporting periods and record counts before releasing reports.

• Ensure joins and aggregations do not introduce duplicate records or overstate results.

• Record assumptions, unresolved discrepancies and limitations that affect interpretation.

Excel and Power BI reporting

• Prepare Excel analysis using lookup formulas, PivotTables and Power Query.

• Build and maintain Power BI dashboards with clear measures, appropriate relationships

and useful visuals.

• Develop DAX measures and verify that results behave correctly under filters.

• Define reporting metrics consistently and document their calculation.

• Apply appropriate access controls and check report refreshes where required.

Python and automation

• Use Python to clean, transform and validate data.

• Automate repetitive reporting and file-processing tasks.

• Build scripts with appropriate error handling, validation and clear documentation.

• Investigate failures and maintain existing analytical scripts.

Communication and documentation

• Clarify requirements with stakeholders before developing reports.

• Explain findings, business implications and recommended actions in plain language.

• Provide concise summaries suitable for senior management.

• Maintain documentation for queries, dashboards, scripts and reporting processes.

• Handle customer and business data responsibly, following company policies and access

requirements.

Preference will be given to candidates with a degree in Computer Science or Data

Science, particularly graduates from recognized institutions such as FAST-NUCES

or NUST.
